Hello and Welcome -- Thanks for stopping by!
I'm Adrienne Hicks, and this is Wool Candy, outlet for my fiber obsessed mind.
I live in San Carlos, California, about half an hour south of San Francisco, with my hilarious Boston Terrier, Stewart.
Not a day has gone by since I learned to knit in August of 2001 that I haven't knit at least a few stitches. My fiber obsession has expanded over the years, and now encompasses spinning (I have a 3 year old Lendrum DT named Lacey) and dyeing both yarn and fiber.
For nearly 10 years, knitting (and other fiber-y pursuits) were limited to a daily, rather obsessive hobby. I worked the daily grind like everyone else, trying and repeatedly failing to find that one “thing” that was mine -- that I was “supposed” to be doing with my life. On the way, I earned graduate degrees in English Literature and Library Science, worked as a bookseller for a number of years in an urban independent bookstore, sold my soul to the man to work for a high tech company designing user interfaces, got married, had a mild breakdown, and got a divorce (not necessarily in that order).
In 2009, I turned my daily obsessions into my livelihood by opening Wool Candy, the Shop. At last, though I’ve never worked harder in my whole life, I feel like I’ve found where I’m supposed to be. Every step along the journey brought me a little closer, and now, here I am! I’m the luckiest person in the world, spending my days creating, and sharing the fruits of my labor with you all. I hope you enjoy what you find here.
