The Day After
Monday, June 1, 2009 at 9:10AM
Phew!
Maker Faire is over. It was a blast. A BLAST. Two incredibly long days, and I'm still tired, and my voice is hoarse. But I had so much fun, met so many wonderful knitters, fantastic crafty BazBiz folks, and sold a bunch of yarn. Yay!
Saturday, Nina was my booth bitch and was such a huge help. We gabbed during slow times, and she was awesome at hawking all of my wares. The 11 hours just flew on by. I won't lie -- we were both flagging there at the end, but our super-nice booth neighbor Rachel, of Super Sugar Ray Ray shared her chocolate with us and it kept us going until we could get to In 'n' Out for a late dinner.

Sunday, Tobin was my booth babe and was a huge help. He did his honest-to-nerdness best answering questions about yarn, was super enthusiastic and remembered my over-complicated bookkeeping system when I didn't. He got away a few times to check out some of Maker Faire, but if we do this again next year (and I hope we do!), he should come one day just to do Maker stuff, and work the booth with me one day.
This was my first show ever, and it couldn't have been better. I almost sold out of handspun, which was such a thrill, sold out of several colorways and gave out a crapton of my new Moo biz cards. The Bazaar Bizarre folks treated us so well, having everything set up just so, and giving us coffee and breakfast treats the mornings of both days of the Faire, and even giving us a little snack bag filled with fruit and snackbars and bottles of water! It was awesome. I got to meet and talk to so many great, creative people -- in the booths near me, and the folks visiting the Faire.
It's making me even more excited for Sock Summit in August. I think that's going to be amazingly fun too, especially since everyone there will be a knitter-- and a sock knitter, at that.
I have a LOT of work ahead of me to prepare for that, but I'll bask in the glow of this past weekend first.
A quick p.s. :) I'm planning a big update to the Etsy shop this week on Thursday. There are a few skeins and bundles of roving leftover from this weekend, so I'll be putting them up starting Thursday, and throughout the next weeks. Keep an eye here on the blog for news, and on my Flickr stream, where you can start to see yarn and fiber "appear" before it goes in my shop. If you see anything you like, don't hesitate to convo me or email me -- I'm happy to reserve things, and also to do custom orders. YAY!
